We provide a comprehensive independent examination service specifically tailored to each individual organisation. We see your independent examination as a process that can really add value to an organisation. So instead of simply providing you with compliant accounts, we aim to identify areas in your finance where savings or improvements can be made.

Independent Examination is a form of external scrutiny of accounts available as an alternative to an audit to charities with an income of less than £500,000.  It is a simpler form of scrutiny which takes into account the reduced level of risk in a smaller organisation.

We are specialists in charity independent examination in Scotland.  We don’t take on for-profit companies or organisations outside of Scotland.   That singular focus ensures that our independent examinations are consistently compliant with the expectations of regulators.

Independent examinations can be carried out for the majority of charities in Scotland.  We can offer the service if your organisation has an income below £500,000 in the year and there are no requirements on you to have an audit – for example from a funder, your Board or your constitution.  Independent Examination is open to charitable companies, unincorporated organisations and Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisations SCIOs).

Voluntary organisations that are not charitable and don’t have any formal external scrutiny requirements may choose to undertake an independent examination as a way of demonstrating good governance and transparency.
